Stay Positive

I have always struggled with staying positive and seeing the bright side of things. I always had a hard time fitting in, and I never really truly surrounded myself with positive people. When I got to college everything changed. I’ve learned a lot since I’ve been in college; but being positive was one of the many things I learned that actually mattered to me. I thought why not share some tips with y’all about how to stay positive.

Tip 1: Manifest

Say things that you want to happen. Don’t say “I think I did bad on that test” instead say, “I know I did good on that test”. If you put positivity out in the world it is more likely to come back around to you. Manifesting might sound cliché, but it truly does work.

Tip 2: Write the positives from your day

If you keep a diary/journal write all of the positive things that happened in the day or week. This will help you focus on more of the positive things rather than the negative. You don’t have to do this daily, you can do this at the end of the week. Kind of like a “week recap” of all the positive things that have happened.

Tip 3: Surround yourself with positive people

This is the most important tip out of the rest. Who you surround yourself with really affects how you feel/act. If you are around more positive people, you will most likely be more positive. Now let’s think, do the people in your life make you want to work harder? Do they always wish the best for you? Are they always there for you through the good and bad? If you answered yes to those three questions, you are most likely surrounded by positive people. Keep them close.

Tip 4: Positive quote notifications

This is just a small little thing, but it has really helped me to be more positive. I have an app called ‘Eternal Sunshine’, and this app sends about 2-3 positive notifications depending on the day. It’s really nice to get positive affirmations.

Tip 5: Listen to “happy” music

Last but not least, change your playlist. When I came to college all I would listen to is rap and the typical hits that were on the radio. For a few months I’ve been listening to more up-beat and beat drop songs (if that’s the right term). My new type of music I listen to kind of reminds me of a summer playlist. I’ll link my daily jams on Spotify below!

Being positive is really important to live a happier and healthier life. If you struggle with staying positive, try some of my tips. It will most likely take a little while till you fully become positive, it took me about 3 months to figure out how to truly be positive. So, give it time. You got this.
